How the link works
The Retailer to BigCommerce Link uses the Tower Web Connect platform as the bridge to the BigCommerce API. Data moves in two rhythms. A frequent sync runs every couple of minutes and reflects the stock changes you make. A full sync runs once a day to make sure the online store is completely up to date.
Stock
Retailer is your master stock database. You flag the items you want online. Descriptions and extended descriptions become your BigCommerce titles and descriptions. Newly flagged products are added automatically, and when you edit an item in Retailer you have field-level control over how that change is applied online. You also choose how departments and categories sync, from a full mirror of your point of sale structure through to categories you manage yourself.
Classifications
Extra product detail travels through Classifications — carat and clarity, for example. These arrive as BigCommerce metafields, ready to display as additional product information or to power filtering.
Prices and quantity on hand
ou set online pricing from the Retailer stock screen, and bulk price changes can be made in Stock Manager. Once set, the store updates automatically. Quantity on hand looks after itself: as you sell or arrive stock, the adjustment is sent through, and an item that reaches zero is marked out of stock online.
Images
Images you attach to stock items in Retailer upload to your website automatically. Add as many per item as you like.
Customers and sales
Online shoppers are added as customers in your Retailer database, so you can see what they buy and market to them if you choose. Sales download periodically and import into Retailer, reducing quantity on hand so stock control stays accurate. Report them against a separate location or merge them with your main sales data.
